Fargo, North Dakota-based 3Dom USA has released a new 3D printing filament branded Entwined, which is made from hemp.
Since its inception, 3Dom USA has focused on delivering highly specialized 3D filaments with an eye towards eco-friendliness and sustainability. The company has previously launched filaments made from beer, coffee, bioplastic, and grass, among others.
The new hemp filament is made from Manitoba-grown industrial hemp, which is grown without herbicides or pesticides. The filament contains no dyes, giving it a natural brown color.
The company says it can be used with any 3D printer capable of printing with PLA, at a temperature between 180 and 210 C. They recommend starting at 10 degrees cooler than your typical PLA printing temperature, and if you have a heated bed set it to 45 C.
Entwined is available in 1.75mm and 2.85mm diameters, at $59 per spool. Samples are available from filabits.
