Surgeons use 3D printing for toddler’s kidney transplant

For the first time, surgeons used 3D printing to aid in performing a kidney transplant from an adult to a toddler.

Three year old Lucy Boucher received the kidney, donated by her father Chris. Surgeons used a 3D printer to make detailed models of the father’s kidney and the daughter’s abdomen. This allowed them to simulate the procedure and minimize potential risks.
